The Enduring Name And Truth of The Wise Nikola Tesla
Whilst exploring the life and work of the famous scientist and explorer Nikola Tesla, Dragan Stojmenovic, actor and assistant at the Art Academy of Novi Sad, made a film "Talking with nature, talking with Tesla", which deals with the life of an inventor at the present day.
The basic question the author Dragan Stojmenović asks is, if, and to what degree, we are ready to commit to one goal in life, the way Tesla did.
- There are people among us ready to make that kind of a sacrifice and dedicate their lives to a single goal, but we always treat them with misunderstanding, Stojmenović claims, adding that these are the people about whom his movie was made.
The protagonists, as he states, are the inventors Veljko Milković, member of SAIN (Serbian Academy of Inovative Sciences) and Nebojša Kovačević, who talk about their lives, their work and problems they face, counterpointing the story of Nikola Tesla.
- The story shows the problems explorers and inventors encounter today. Through it we come to the conclusion, as Stojmenović explains, that the mistrust of society they face equals that which our great scientist once faced.
- Not much has changed today and Nikola Tesla is a good example of this; we celebrated 150 years since the birth of Nikola Tesla last year - then there was a buzz everywhere but this year no one mentions it, the author adds.
The circumstances required the movie to be made in documentary format. Stojmenović planned for it to be an animated-fiction film, but due to lack of financing he turned to the documentary approach.
- I'm not giving up on the idea of a feature length movie which would be about the influence of Serbian historic figures on the life on Nikola Tesla, it would be called "Pockets Full of Light," he explains.
After the Novi Sad premiere and promotion the movie would start its journey on the festival circuit abroad as the invites have already arrived.
